Who is Boi Xochi?

Boi Xochi (they/them) is an East Los Angeles-born alternative folk artist who has been playing in the LA Music scene since they were 16, frequenting open mics around the city, playing cover gigs at Mexican restaurants, and even playing a gig with local heroes Ozomatli at 14. Fueled by their obsession with records and artistry, they studied composing and arranging in university in a search for their unique sound. At 17, they toured the east coast with the national Next Gen Jazz Orchestra as their vocalist, performing at the Montreal Jazz Fest, various venues in Boston and NY and later at the Monterey Jazz Festival.

Boi Xochi is an artist who embraces their queer identity and is using their music to break free from the limitations of the binaries of life. This is all while embracing the nostalgia that is often paired with coming out to yourself later in life, leaning into the punk, anti-folk and motown their inner kid loves.

Xochi is also a Twitch streamer, live streaming video games, commentary and live music, and is building their podcast "On the Invisible"' which interviews artists and culture workers navigating disability and COVID consciousness in a non-conscientious world.

When not writing and playing music, they love watching anime, making tea blends, making/collecting/distributing zines and supplies, cooking, participating in mutual aid with community and friends, and falling down history rabbit-holes on the internet.
